Same day replacement · Sydney
Same day computer replacement in Sydney, so a dead machine doesn't cost you the week
When a work computer dies, the repair is not the emergency. The downtime is. We bring you a replacement machine the same day, restore your data and apps onto it, and you keep working while the dead one gets fixed on its own time, not on yours.
A service of Alien IT Solutions, 18 years in Sydney business IT.
The repair is not the emergency. The downtime is.
A failed computer is two problems, and most repairers only deal with one of them. The machine itself is a hardware job that takes as long as it takes. The person who can no longer work is the real cost, and that one is urgent. A repair quote of five to ten business days sounds reasonable until you price a week of someone's lost output against it.
So we split the two problems. Getting you working again is today's job: a replacement machine on your desk, your data and apps restored, back to it by the afternoon. The repair happens separately, off to the side, where it can take the time it needs without costing anyone anything. That is the whole model, and it is why we say replacement, not repair. You should never be waiting on a part.
How the same-day swap works
Three moves. Two of them happen before the old machine is even looked at.
You call, we match a machine
Tell us what died, what it ran and where your data lives. We pick a replacement from stock that matches or beats the old spec, and we tell you on that first call if yours is one of the hard ones to match.
We deliver and restore, today
The replacement arrives the same day. We restore your files from backup or cloud, sign your email back in, reconnect printers and shared drives, and load the software you actually use.
You work, the repair runs separately
The dead machine goes off for repair or a write-off call. Either way it is no longer your problem, because you are already working on the new one.
Loaner laptops for the gear you can't be without
Some machines the business simply cannot run without. The front counter terminal. The machine the accounts live on. The laptop the owner runs everything from. For those we run a loaner program, so the repair clock and your working day are never the same clock.
If your machine is repairable and you want it back rather than replaced, a loaner fills the gap. It arrives set up, with your data restored and your cloud apps signed in, and you work on it like it is yours. When the repaired machine comes back we move you across, then securely wipe the loaner. You get the machine you wanted repaired, and you never carried the repair time as downtime.
What makes same day actually possible
Three things. Two are ours, one is yours, and we will be honest about the third.
Stock on hand
We keep business-grade laptops and desktops ready to go, not on order. Same day only works if the machine already exists, so at our end it does. No courier, no "arriving Thursday".
Standard images
Every stock machine carries a known-good setup with the usual business stack already on it. Restoring you means loading your data and logins onto a working base, not building a computer from a blank disk while you watch.
Your backups, before the failure
The honest one. A good backup taken before the machine died means a full restore in hours. No backup means pulling data off a dead drive, which is slower and not always complete. The state of your backup on the day it dies decides how fast this goes, and anyone who promises otherwise is selling you something.
What we need from you
Have these three ready and the restore runs at full speed.
Licences and logins
Your Microsoft 365 sign-in, key software licences, and the passwords for the accounts your work lives in. Missing logins mean waiting on resets, and resets eat the day.
Where your data lives
Cloud storage, a server, an external drive, or only the machine that died. Knowing this before we arrive decides what we load the replacement from, and how fast.
The real state of your backup
When it last ran and what it covers, honestly. Don't dress it up. We work with what is actually there, and knowing the truth in the first ten minutes saves hours at the desk.
What can't be same day, and we'll say so up front
Straight answers beat surprises. Three things sit outside the same-day promise.
Exotic hardware
High-end CAD workstations, specific Mac configurations, machines with licensed dongles or specialist cards. We can often loan something workable for email and files the same day, but a like-for-like replacement may take days to source. You hear that on the first call, not after.
Data recovery with no backup
Pulling data off a failed drive is slow, careful work. Sometimes hours, sometimes days, and a physically damaged drive can need a specialist lab. The replacement machine is still same day. The missing data is the part that is not, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Vendor-locked software
Some accounting and industry packages need the vendor to release or reactivate a licence before they run on new hardware. That sits on the vendor's clock. We chase it for you, but we won't claim to control it.
What decides the cost
No price list here, because a real number depends on the job, and a made-up number helps nobody. Four things drive it: the spec of the replacement, a standard office machine costs less to match than a high-spec workstation; whether you are buying the machine or taking a loaner while yours is repaired; how much restoring there is, a clean cloud restore is quick, pulling data off a dying drive is not; and where you are in Sydney.
You get the real number up front, before we roll, not after. If the honest answer is that a repair through your usual channel is the cheaper play and you can wear the downtime, we will tell you that too.
Questions people ask
How fast can you get me a replacement computer?
Call in the morning and the aim is a working machine on your desk the same business day. How complete it is by the end of the day depends on your backup: a good cloud backup restores in hours, no backup means we are pulling data off the dead machine and that takes longer.
Do you offer loaner laptops while mine is repaired?
Yes. If your machine is repairable and you want it back, we set up a loaner with your data and apps so you keep working while the repair happens. When yours comes back we move you across and securely wipe the loaner.
Will all my files and programs be on the replacement?
Your files, email and cloud apps, yes, usually the same day. Some licensed software needs the vendor to release or reactivate the licence, and that runs on their clock, not ours. We tell you up front which programs fall into that bucket.
What if I have no backup?
We will be straight with you: no backup means a slower restore. We pull what we can off the dead drive, which can take hours or days, and a heavily damaged drive sometimes needs a specialist lab. You still get a working machine the same day, the missing piece is your data, not the hardware.
What kind of machines do you keep in stock?
Business-grade laptops and desktops that cover the standard office spec. Exotic gear, high-end CAD workstations, specific Mac configurations, machines with licensed dongles, usually cannot be matched same day, but a loaner can often keep you working while the right machine is sourced.
What happens to the dead computer?
It goes off for repair or a write-off assessment, separately, so nobody is waiting on it. If it is repaired and you took a loaner, we swap you back. If it is written off, we destroy the data on the old drive before the machine is recycled.
Dead computer? Don't lose the week.
Tell us what died and what it ran. We'll match a machine from stock, bring it out today, and have you working while the repair happens somewhere else.
